Halo is a small 100% vegan restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City that really took me by surprise. It’s definitely one of my favorite vegan restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City! I really wanted to go because I read on Happy Cow that they had vegan ice cream. I ended up going to Halo on my last day and boy was I thrilled!
Halo is a very casual vegan restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. The interior is really basic, they have small wooden chairs and the walls are decorated with famous vegans and their drinks menu. I am a huge fan of low-key vegan restaurants. For me, it’s all about the food, and the food at Halo is incredible!
Most mains (except hot pot) are around 40,000 VND which I would consider fairly reasonable. The menu consists of noodle dishes, soups, rice dishes, vegetable dishes and heaps more. They have such a great variety of dishes! If you are not a fan of mock meat, then Halo is a great choice. Although mock meat is in quite a few dishes, they have just as many without it.
The best part? They also have vegan ice cream made out of coconut milk for 15,000 VND! As you can see on the menu, they’ve got quite a few flavours. Whenever I went they only had two available. If you want to try a particular one, make sure to pop in and ask if they are going to have what you are looking for.
Ice cream flavors:
- Japanese Matcha Green Tea
- Coffee Coconut
- Custard Apple
What I ate
They have such a huge menu that it took me a while to decide what I wanted. I ended up getting the Claypot Rice for 40,000 VND and absolutely loved it. My man got the same dish and my friend went with spring rolls. The Claypot Rice was one of my favorite dishes while staying in Ho Chi Minh City and I highly recommend trying it!
I also couldn’t resist and tried their Coconut Ice Cream for 15,000 VND. It had a really subtle flavor and I absolutely loved it! If you are a lover of subtle, not overly sweet ice cream, definitely give it a try.
If you love great food, a low-key atmosphere, and reasonable prices then Halo, a vegan restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, is your place. If I would have gone to Halo earlier I would have come back almost every day. Yes, it was that good!
