I’ve read some incredible books lately and I am so excited to share them with you! Whenever I am reading a brilliant book I don’t want it to end and that’s how I felt about all of these books. They were that good!
The Handmaid’s Tale
The oh so popular tv show is based on this novel which was published back in 1998. I usually don’t read fiction and when I first stumbled upon the book I couldn’t resist. I just had to read it! The book is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society in which women are treated as a property of the state. Please bear in mind that I never watched the show. All I can say is that the book is absolutely incredible and so worth reading!
A Plea for the Animals
This is probably one of the most important books that I’ve read in 2018. It’s my #1 recommendations out of all the books mentioned in this month’s books I’ve been loving write up. It’s imperative to treat all beings with compassion and that’s the main message of the book. This is a must-read for anyone eating animals and animal products and also for those who choose not to.
Meet the Frugalwoods
Liz, the creator of Frugalwoods, a blog about financial independence and simple living. She shares her personal story of how she and her husband abandoned their life in the city for a simple one in the woods. What I didn’t like about the book that she never touched on actual numbers. It’s just important to keep in mind that they both seemed to earn a whole bunch of money, which ultimately, allowed them to become financially independent.
Designing Your Life
Designing your life is one of the best books I’ve read in 2018. ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ was a question that, for the longest time, plagued me, until it didn’t. The authors of this book did a great job! With their help, you may be able to work out what you want, what you can do without and how to live the life you want to be living. I found it incredibly refreshing and highly recommend it!
