3 Years on YouTube!

In August I celebrated 3 years on YouTube.

3 Years on YouTube!

Yeah, right, I couldn’t believe it either!

London, August 2015

It must have been on a weekend in London, sometime in August. I sat down, filmed a short video about “My Minimalist Story” and clicked >upload<

Prior to actually uploading my very first video, I was filled with doubt. Should I really be doing this? Who am I to give advice to others? I sound funny when I talk, no? My English is actually decent, why do I sound like I am not capable of speaking it?

The thought of talking in front of a camera to an imaginative audience freaked me out. I was so incredibly nervous and I sweated so much.

Speaking in front of a camera made me sweat like a fountain (love that, Jenny!) and yet I knew that’s exactly what I wanted to do.

Jenny’s post about her 3 years on YouTube resonated so much with me. We started our YouTube channels at roughly the same time and I am so glad that we did. My desire to share my thoughts and experiences fat outweighed my fears.

Say it to my face.

Just like in real life, there is always going to be someone who doesn’t quite agree with your life choices and lifestyle. The difference is that those who don’t agree with something that I say or do in real life, actually know me. Anyone online leaving a hurtful comment doesn’t and that’s the difference. “If you’ve got nothing good to say, say nothing at all” is something that I live by.

I uploaded a video a while back about How I deal with hate on the internet and the feedback I got was incredible.

Lots of the comments that I received really resonated with me and here are some of my favorite ones:

I recently posted about my 3 Years on YouTube on YouTube and on Instagram and just wanted to say thank you.

It’s now 17,000 of us

Thank you for taking the time to leave comments, suggestions, and feedback. I really appreciate your time and thoughtful comments and can’t believe that my channel has grown to 17,000 subscribers. I never imagined that this would happen. That being said, for me, it’s not a numbers game and never was.

My aim is to continue to share my thoughts and experience in the hopes of it helping someone else. Whether that’s one person or 1,000,000 doesn’t matter as much.

Shaving everything with a safety razor has over 100,000 views

Of course, I am always thrilled when videos that I think would be beneficial to lots of people, get lots of views. Almost two years ago I filmed a video called “Shaving everything with safety razor” and it has since racked up over 100,000 views. I created this video with the intention of spreading the message about the perks of safety razors and to this day it gets comments and feedback.

Another one of my favorites is “10 Frugal habits that rock” which I filmed about a year ago. It’s one of my favorite videos ever and I am so thrilled that it resonated with so many of you.

17,000 Thank you’s

Thank you for sticking around and spreading the love. If you’ve got any feedback or video suggestions, please kindly leave them in the comment section šŸ™‚

Much love to you,

I rarely leave comments on other people’s blogs, but really wanted to leave a comment on this post! First of all, I’m happy to hear that you liked my joke about the fountain, ehehehe! And second, you are doing an amazing job on Youtube as well as with your blog… your content is an inspiration to thousands of people around the world and if someone cannot see that, it’s their problem and their thing. We can’t do or say something that everyone will agree with all the time, as we are all different. It might be difficult to process negativity we get online at first, but we all have to learn to deal with people that don’t like us for one reason or another, on the internet and outside of it too, in real life. As long as we do what we love and even a handful of people will get value from it, our mission is accomplished, I guess! šŸ™‚ Thank you for being you Nina, you are an inspiration to many of us!! Cheers to the next 3 amazing years!!

šŸ˜€ I am so thrilled to hear from you, Jenny! I had to laugh so hard when I read it! Sweating like a fountain, so so true! I totally agree with you – there’s always gonna be someone somewhere who’s not overly fond what one has to say. In the beginning, I cringed so hard every time something offensive or rude came through! I am now a lot better at just ignoring it. Although there are still times when I have a hard time and just need to take a break from the comment section. Absolutely! As long as it’s of value to someone, I am content šŸ™‚ Yes!! Cheers to the next 3 years!! šŸ˜€
