I am a lover of burgers and have been so ever since I went vegan in 2015. Prior to going vegan most burgers weren’t really up my alley as most of them were a little too heavy and “meaty” for me. The past few years I’ve tried various burgers, all over the place. Wherever I would go and there’d be a vegan place offering one, I’d get one just to see how I like it. I am delighted to report that, after years of eating burger after burger, I’ve found the one. Veganlove has the best burger I ever had.
Veganlove is a tiny little vegan fast food place that is mostly offering burgers and hot dogs all of which are around 1600 HUF. It’s located in Budapest, very close to the water at Bartók Béla út 9. I did a little research on vegan spots I wanted to check out and I was hooked on Veganlove the minute I went to their website:
How could I possibly not check it out? I knew I had to go. Have a look at their website here. Upon arrival I studied the menu and decided to go with the sweet potato burger with sweet potato fries.
The burger came with a sweet potato bun, roasted zucchini, horseradish cream with beetroot, cheddar, tomato, corn salad and homemade ketchup with basil. It was absolutely divine and so were the fries. The patty tasted like a sweet potato fresh out of the oven, the veggies were really fresh, the “cheese” was fabulous and didn’t had that oftentimes odd aftertaste and the bun was soft yet crispy.
Unfortunately a lot of fast food places tend to come with a lot of trash and I am happy to report that Veganlove uses recyclable cardboard trays, biodegradable wooden utensils and napkins made out of recyclable materials. While it would be awesome if they would use reusable alternatives, it’s a lot better than plastic packaging. If you happen to be living in Budapest or are around for a visit and are a fan of burgers then I highly recommend you to check out Veganlove!
